iSmartExams is Lacspace's exam-practice platform for learners in Nepal: mock tests, lessons, vocabulary and listening practice in one place, on Android, iPhone and the web. Over September and October 2026 almost every part of it was rebuilt. This is the full list of what changed, and what it means if you are preparing for an exam.

The short version

  • A new look: the "Scholar owl" brand, teal with orange glasses, a new app icon and a blinking-owl loader.
  • A learner portal at my.ismartexams.com, with a study companion that reminds you, counts down to exam day and brings back the questions you got wrong.
  • Verified certificates for every exam you pass, with a QR code anyone can check.
  • A fairer exam mode: scoring on the server, shuffled options, answer keys only after you submit, and resume with your remaining time.
  • New pricing: a free practice set in every subject, premium exams from Rs. 10, and bundles of 10, 20 or 50 exams.
  • More content: German, French and Chinese joined Japanese, IELTS and the rest.

What you can practise today

A cleaner app

In mid-September the app dropped the old forum and global ranking, which added noise without helping anyone study. Lessons became a bottom tab next to Exams, and both Exams and Vocabulary now open by category. Loading shows skeleton screens instead of spinners, and pull-to-refresh plays the animated logo. The backend got a security pass at the same time: input sanitising, rate limits and privacy fixes.

App version 1.1.0 adds links from the portal that open straight in the app, safe back navigation on every screen, a smaller permission list (only what is used, and the system photo picker), in-app account deletion, an offline banner, and exam reminders and alarms. Version 1.1.0 is rolling through store review; smaller updates arrive over the air without a store release.

The learner portal

The portal launched on 11 October. It is the same account as the app, on a bigger screen, plus a study companion: browser reminders on the days you choose, exam-day countdowns, a Mistakes page that resurfaces wrong answers on a spaced schedule, achievements and a focus timer. A small owl hoot plays with reminders, and one tap in the header mutes it. Every list on the portal, from exams to results and purchases, can switch between table, cards, list, kanban, analytics, timeline and calendar views, with filters, saved views and CSV export. Read how the study companion works.

Certificates you can actually share

Pass an exam on time and a certificate is issued automatically: Distinction at 80% or more, Merit at 60%, otherwise Pass. After five passed exams you can build one combined certificate. Every certificate has an eight-character code and a QR code that anyone can check at verify.ismartexams.com, plus a PDF download and an add-to-LinkedIn button. More on certificates.

Fairer exams

Exam mode: a timer, a question map and one tap to answer.

Scores are now calculated only on the server, so nobody can edit a result on their phone. Options are shuffled, answer keys appear only after you submit, and if your connection drops you resume with the time you had left. How the new exam mode works.

How pricing works

Every subject has a free practice set, so you can try iSmartExams before paying anything. Most exams are premium and cost Rs. 10 to Rs. 60 each. There is no subscription.

BundlePrice

20 examsRs. 500

Community, rebuilt

iSmart Community v2 replaced the old forum: posts come from verified learners, moderators keep it on topic, and there is a public site at community.ismartexams.com plus a community button inside the app.
